On May 17^th 2013, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Social Policy and Youth Milanka Opacic signed an Memorandum of Understanding with Judith Klein the Director of the Open Society Mental Health Initiative of the Open Society Foundations on the financing of the project “Transformation and deinstitutionalization of the Rehabilitation Center Stancic and Rehabilitation Center Zagreb” worth 3.5 million U.S. dollars. Transformation and de-institutionalization of social welfare is one of the most important strategic goals of the Ministry, which is seeking to improve the quality of services and quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities.

At the signing ceremony an Agreement on Cooperation was also signed between the signatories of the MoU, the Association for Promoting Inclusion and the Centre for Adult Education Validus. This joint initiative is made possible thanks to the donor OSMHI which provides financial support for the implementation of this joint project.
