“Validus” was established in order to ensure the possibility of formal and informal training of staff working in Community-based services for people with disabilities.

 

Mission: Creating the professional capacity for the provision of quality community-based services for people with disabilities.

Goal: Provision of training for staff supporting people with disabilities in the community.

 

The faculty of Validus has significant experience in the social welfare sector and service provision. The founder of Validus, API, is the largest community-based service provider for people with intellectual disabilities in Croatia with a mission to actively support the development of Community-based services in Croatia and Eastern European countries.

Validus offers specialized professional training programs for different community-based services and supports as well as verified training programs for direct support staff/personal assistants for people with disabilities.

Validus also offers organized study visits to the programs and support services in the community in Croatia and in the region.

TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR DIRECT SUPPORT STAFF / PERSONAL ASSISTANT FOR PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES

WHAT?

A PERSONAL ASSISTANT is a person who provides direct support to the person with intellectual disabilities in everyday life. Support is adjusted to the person and it can relate to some specific or all aspects of his/her life in the community – from support in the apartment, support in work and social activities and support in using community resources.

WHY?

Development of services in the community for people with disabilities is an international obligation and strategic commitment of the Republic Croatia. As these services are being developed there is a clear necessity for qualified staff to be employed in these services.

The training curricula can also be of interest to staff who already work with people with disabilities because it enables them to acquire new skills and abilities necessary for providing support in the community. At the same time, by attending this program, staff meets the formal training conditions in accordance with the legal obligation of the prescribed level of education and which opens up the possibility of employment with service providers in the social sector.

HOW?

Conditions for enrolment into Validus program are high school education level and medical certificate on capability to provide direct support to people with disability.

The program consists of 237 hours of regular and consultative-instructive teaching (theory – 97 hours, workshops 60 hours and practical training– 80 hours).

After the completion of the program and final test, a CERTIFICATE ON QUALIFICATION provided and registered into the participant’s employment booklet.
